IWL India manufactures high quality bitumen and coal tar based pipe wrap tapes and pipe coating anti corrosive tapes which conform to IS:10221. IWL’s “Pypkote” tape is specially manufactured by sandwich and carrier methods and  consists of polymeric mix supported by a high-tensile HMHDPE film. Pypkote tapes are specifically manufactured to have properties that resist corrosion on pipelines.

How to Apply Pypkote Anti-Corrosion Tape

Pypkote is designed for easy installation, requiring minimal surface preparation. Follow these steps to ensure maximum protection:

  1. Surface Preparation: Clean the surface to remove dirt, rust, and loose particles.
  2. Primer Application: Primer needs to be applied to improve adhesion.
  3. Application of Tape: Heat the tape’s inner surface and press it gently on the surface to be protected. After heating, start at the end of the pipe and wrap Pypkote tightly around the pipe surface with overlaps between adjoining tapes.
  4. Final Check: Ensure smooth application, pressing down the tape to remove air pockets.
  5. Additional Layers: In extremely corrosive environments, multiple layers can be applied for enhanced protection.
